Last fall we had another guided turist tour to a nature shooters life. Courtecy of Karvakuono. If I understood right the invitation still stands if we wanted to go there again. Okay, maybe but with a six pac and good sausages waiting at the lean-to.
Anyways, the reblog is about the image. Shot this when we were retreating from our attempt to sneak closer to the cranes. I’ve forgoten it complitely but it popped up when I was looking for somthing to upload to my facebook page.
I simply love the picture and I have to print it before I loose it. Went to my all time favs’. How on earth do I forget these pictures?
Even if there were three of us shooting that day you only see the alone photog against the fading light. Another day gone without a picture but thats nature photography for you. Pictures with strong storys behind them – there is never too many of those.
Here is a more formal portrait I shot of him later..

I had also clean forgotten that picture from the swamp. Now I do remember seeing it before. I love it. It depicts so well what my hobby is like. On my own, gear in tow, moving in the wild at odd hours. I can almost feel the “blood, sweat and tears” that sometimes goes along with trying to get that ONE picture.
I love the formal portrait as well, but it gives a sort of illusion of what my photography is about. The image created by the picture is a bit too clean and comfortable. The reality is so much rougher and without the glamour that the portrait depicts.
