Empty Photography

Another shot from the shoot at the rocks with Henna.

For the record I hate photoforums. All of them.  On the forums there is one brand of photography that I hate specialy. That is “art photography. “  You know exactly what I mean.

I do not do art. I do pretty pictures. Pretty and simple.  If you ask the guys who make “art photos” what they think of model photos (anything after richard aveidon that is) they will most likely discribe them as “empty photos.”

I don’t care. Let it be empty. Rather it be empty and pretty than ugly and full of content no one can understand.

Couldn’t agree with you more my friend. Photoforums are something that one stumbles into in the beginning and then slowly drifts away from as knowledge, skill and undestanding increases. As for your comment on “art photography”, all I can say is that I miss the point of the pics most of the time in that style of photography, so I should not really comment on it much since I obviously don’t have a clue as to what it is all about.

As for your pic above, I’m impressed. Nice one.

Art pics.. not only they are crappy in technique also the point goes 10km above my head..

I was thinking exactly the same way a few years ago until i realized that photography can be more than just a document of something happening in front of the lens. And who is to say what is beatiful or not? Most of the time beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. Is it the subject/object that the spectator finds beautiful or is it the beautiful lighting on an old grumpy woman? The list could go on and on.

Art photo shouldn’t automatically be considered beautiful or more appreciated just for the sake of art, instead it should act as an mirror to the viewer as if asking “Do I like this or don’t I, why?” Good photo art should in my opinion pose questions and let the viewer decide. What’s right or wrong is irrelevant in this case.

    How do you define beauty?

Define beaty? Impossible. Its everywhere and we as photogs only choose to capture some part of it.

Robert you nailed it. Art should asks a question. Makes the viewer think. And thats the problem because I find that is not the case. The art photos are blank and I don’t know how many questions you can ask with a naked back of a woman in a empty bathroom.

Photojournalism is as far Im concerned the master legue of photography.

    Thanks for the comment.
