Yet another video clip shot with the lumix. Went around the location and teased Maijus assistant Heidi. Did this all day long so you can imagine how much fun she had working with me.

What a weekend!
Shot some amazing stuff (in my standards anyhow) on saturday. More of those tomorrow..
A motorsports shooter janne mäki came around and I tagged along as a assistant to get a freepass to rally sprint event. Learned a lot from him and had ton of fun just hanging around and talking shit. Heres the fellow with his lucky hat, sitting in the deep snow.. Looks like fun, rigth?
Being as I am a poor man I don’t have a loose money to invest in photography. Thus I have to find a ways to go around some problems because I just can’t walk in to a camera store and buy all the gear I can think of.
Luckily – as we all have learned from the man him self the great great D.H. – things don’t always have to be damn expensive.
Worst item I ever bought was a small soft box for 60e (Ought to sell it thou.) The best peace of gear I’ve bought is a white old bed sheet for 2e! (Sure the ezy is still my #1 peace of equipmet but it could have bought 65 of those bed sheets with the same money.)
1. the bed sheet, aka the silk
2. the snoot . This just one of many I’ve “build”. I attend to forget these at the location on every shoot thus I have to make new ones..
3. the straw grid.. everyone has these but I rarely use them
While I was selling fireworks at Masku in Anjalankoski and saw this toy on the shelf. It wasn’t even on the shelf but hidden beneath all the junk. I just had to have it, just had to! Couple of calls to ensure some compatible issues and the racetrack was mine.
Sclaextric sport X3 track and fitting peaces in the mail for the classic series. WOOHAA!
And some awsome pictures coming up. .
Okay..
Point and shoot camera makes .mov files. From any point of view the vga video it makes is just useless but I’ve had some fun playing around with it. As much as I have dissed video and specialy video in DSLRs I’ve found my self thinkin of buying a video camera. Mov-files are pain in the ass and I’m not even sure can they be edited in any way? (Tried to convert it, kick it, punch it and so on..)
What I’d want from a video camera?
-Resolution (more than vga)
-Fileformat that is easy to edit.
-Quick and easy cut&paste editing software. (text up front, music on the background, 20 seconds from there to there, one minute from there to there and thats it..)
-CHEAP! Like less than 200e.
Why? I don’t even know. I kind a like the idea of doing some videos like these but with better tools, but not even thinking of doing something for real like Eero and Antti are doing on their sites.

The videos
First one is a quick tour around our location at the basement of Mikas studio. Judge for your self but I think its a awsome place to shoot and I’m looking forward to visiting there in the future. Second clip is from a mountain bike shoot I did with Eero and Antti. Nothing fancy, nothing drastic. We had to go out and shoot something and figured that bike will do fine..
And yes, I know these are almost too embarrassing..
