The picture above is from the garage session.The garage would be almost perfect place to build a temporary studio but the seeling is way too low. The make-up is done by Anna Rantavuo. I’m sorry to say that this was not a real collaboration, only shear luck on my side. Anna if you see this throw me an email to get you pictures.
The rest of set is done couple of days later. Johanna was still in town and stopped by for couple of hours. We shot here and there in the building but did not step in to the garage. Its fun and frustrating to work in a location that you know that is not the best but you just want to make some images to make it work. Not to say the garage was any good either but the staircase was even more troublesome.
Funny enough I’ve done a bit of photos with new lighting techniques lately. The shot under is one of those. And yes, you can see me in the photo but with this lighting setup its not a huge fault. Couple of shots of Johanna coming up on wednesday but on friday – at last – the Lahti set is starting to unroll itself.

En usko, että kovin moni lukija eksyy tänne löytääkseen valaisukaavioita. Siihen lötyy parempiakin saitteja. (strobist, mcnally)
Iinan ja Hennan kuvat ovat hyvin erilaisia valonkäytön suhteen. Vaikka kummassakin on käytössä sama lastoliten ezyboksi.
Ensiksi Iinan kuva, joka on otettu Kotkassa pienellä mökkitiellä. Setuppi on aika tavallinen studiovalaistus. Päävalo oikealta sivulta, vähän ylhäältä ja melko lähellä mallia. Täytevaloa kameran vierestä pari aukkoa alle päävalon. Jos näitä mittailisi siis. Täytelvalo on pikkasen matalemmalla. Linssinä on 80-200 f2.8 kuvattuna jotta tausta pysyy kurissa. Vallitseva valo noin kolmisen aukko alle.
Toinen kuva Hennasta kivillä. Aloitin ezyboksi päävalona mutta lopulta suljin Skyportin. Pelkkä vallitseva valo näytti ihan kivalta, mutta kiva on kiva ja se siitä. Varjossa on helppo kuvata ok kuvia, mutta ne eivät kanna liian kauas. Pyysin Hennaa kääntymään vielä enemmän jolloin päävalo jää hieman taakse. Hyppäsin parin kiven yli ja tiputin salaman tehoa. Halusin vain pienen, nätin, hienovaraisen hohdon menemään olkapäiden linjassa.
Ezy on myös suhteellisen kaukana ja näin ollen melko kovaa valoa.

My pal and namesake Jussi has incredible will and tendency to stay in the hide for hours and hours. Im not like that, so I suck as a wildlife photographer. Trust me you don’t want me in the hide with you when you have to stay still and quiet. Jussi talked about some cranes and Im pretty sure it was all due to my “LOOK THERE THEY ARE!” what scared them. That does not mean that I do not enjoy the nature but shooting it is not for me. You don’t want me to shoot flower macros or try to capture a rare butterfly. I can shoot seagols – with a riffle.
And its all cool beacause I can do this (pic above). And I like shooting people not with a riffle but with a camera.
But every now and then I get misplaced, confused. Near my workplace there is a punch of seagols and this. Some sort of hawk? But what kind? Don’t know but it flew very nicely.

Too bad its quite dark inside the sotfbox. Balcany repair project has reached us.
I just realised, this will get worse! Thats only the thin plastic to shelter the windows. They will add thicker white tarp that will cover the whole building…. Wippieee…
(Other room with almost clear view is iso400, f2.8, 1/200.. livingroom is 1/20.. niice,not. Note you, that this is at noon.)
