Kaisa&Timi PTII
Kaisa and Timi are off to Thailand for their honeymoon. Me, I am off to Kouvola for the weekend long junior basketball tournament.
While they are relaxing on the beach. I am screaming to bunch of twelve year old they that need to defend harder.
Kaisa and Timi are enjoying a long breakfast at the resort while I am trying to wake up teenage players from a school room floor..
Figures..
All kidding aside I just dropped them a DVD of photos to look at their trip. And when they come back I have all the portraits done and print files ready to deliver. I am seriously thinking of making a blog post about how I shoot, why I shoot and why does it take so long to deliver images.
PT III coming up next week with bridal portraits and final shots.
Kaisa&Timi PT I
Autum-Winter-Wedding, that’s what I would call Kaisa and Timis’s wedding. Its not autum anymore but not yet a proper winter.
I can’t tell how nervous I was for number of reasons but they were simply awesome couple to work with. They drove down to the location in a Porsche and it was plus five Celsius. My first thought was “ouuh crap this is going to be short and sweet photog’s ass kicking” but they were so cool about everything. (literally also!) I fixed lights almost endlesly but we hit couple of cool shots and set at ease. It takes a bit more from couple to smile when they can’t feel their fingers anymore but they rocked – mostly because I wasn’t doing much. Just telling them to do little thing but they were laughing together all the time..
One of the reasons I was nervous was that this was not suppose to be my gig at all. Milka got sick and asked if I could cover for her which I was happy to do. And I was truly happy to help. Every time I book a shoot I think about what would I do if I get sick and have gigs to shoot. Portraits you can always re-schedule but weddings not so much. And if I screw this up its just not my ass on the line but she recommended me to the couple so I better do the job well. I am not off the hook yet. I just finished going through 1523 frames from the day.
BTW do you have small kids?! You’ll definitely want to check out Milka’s blog. You will want to hire her to shoot your kids.
ah, just some on a shoot material for the fb-page
Weddings: Leila & Timo
If by somehow you have not noticed Joe McNally is my freaking idol. As far as I am considered he wrote the photography bible “the moment it clicks.” One of his stories is “one awwshit wipes out three attaboys..” I hope you got the point because I am not going to write the story here. Buy the book – trust me – its worth it.
I really like this pic of Leila and Timo. The last frames I shot just before I left. Its nothing fancy, nothing I haven’t done before but it shows something about them I can’t really grasp. They were like that all day – cheerful, playful and all over each other. The awwwshit photo came just before this. The throwing bridal bouquet took place outside around 11pm and it was dark. I had seconds to to setup my flash and I was too slow. No decent photo.
Thus I knew I had to do something else. This came to my mind. Something sweet, something different and something that no one else on the wedding could do for them.
