The frame was orginaly filed under ‘a secndary edit.’ Which is made for the facebook page to be exclusive content only for the page.

Well it just flipped to be the main edit. The color one just does not work as well.

The First Ride Together

Kalle emailed me in the spring, he was looking for a wedding photographer. Mika who I happened to know was their choise but had already being booked so I was the second choise. Or third, fourth..

Anyways Im so clad I got the gig because I had heleva good time. The couple Kalle and Sinianna were awsome to shoot and I don’t remember when I enjoyed shooting more. I wasn’t nervous (not a good thing thou) but all the anxietys I had vanished when I drove to their house and Kalle was their to greet me. Having a smoke and looking like he just woke up. And this was just before we were scheduled to shoot the portraits in location. Hell yeah I thought, pulled out the camera and started the job. Nice!

More to come but its now saturday and I’m the middle of postprocessing thus Im taking a break and leaving the computer for a picnic.

One Way to Approach

Couple of things to do before you go and shoot something you never shot before.

1) Do your homework, research of your subjects and look at the pictures of others.

2) Copy&Paste and fly. Do the copycat thing. Its usefull, helpfull and will save your butt. Granted the pics woun’t be the most orginal ones, but you got something. At the end try to find your own angles.

3) Do as I say, not as I did.

I’ve been kinda burried to other things and just lacked the energy to flip through skate shots. Figured I’ll just wing it and it ought to do. Notebook was filled with lighting ideas which in a nutshell were: Nuke it and spot it.

Nuke it to give me at least something safe to work with.

Spot it to get some graphic high contrast black an whites. Like this. The location is a skate hall in Kotka. Its just around the corner where I live and did not even know it.

A long time ago I swore I will not join facebook, ever! Period, end of disscussion. What a joke! It has turned out to be a very, very usefull tool and a way to get in touch with people like stylists, models, students, other photographers and so on.

The facebook just turned up a notch when the fan page popped up in there! Wasn’t me who created it. Thanks Antti, appreciate it even if created after several beers.

To keep the keep the feet on the ground, there is onlu 13 people in the group… not me thou, yet.
