We lived in the same suburb as kids. Life takes starges pahts, but he becoming a organist took everybody by suprise. And what Ive heard he is damm good at it too.

Its not often you can take someones portrait with their instrument..that costs gazilion euros like the organs in the curch of Kotka. I like the simple setup and the rim light comming f rom the windows.  A bonus pic of him playing..

Utterly dissapointed, complitely discouraged and filled with apathy I walked away from the first dacer-shoot. ..Hold on I was not filled with apathy, I was filled with anger.  F.. it, I will take this on again. Next time I’ll do it the way I know best.

Luckily Maiju was heading back to Kotka the very next weekend.

“Cool, reshoot?”

“Okay…”

“Hell yea!!!”

I thought: to hell with the ambient, I can’t do shit with it now, so I will drag the strobes. I will kill the ambient, I will spot the cool shoes, I’ll do it the way I know and the way I am most comfortable with.

Almost.. Like a proved idiot I sold my radiotriggers before I got the new ones. Thus I had only the Nikon CLS system and the sb800/600 combo to go with. What it meant was  I did not have a rim light. Sure I could use the main and the rim but the folks at the dancestudio move were so excited about their new cool MoonShoes. I had to put a grided sb on them.

Had a new assistant to work with, Iina. She has more talent behind the  camera than I ever had and I do hope that she picked up a spark for lighting. No telling where she would take her photography with an ezybox and “manual mode level” understanding of the camera-flash combination..

Antti is dear friend of mine. I was honored to shoot his wedding and to be his bestman when he married Viivi in 2007. I was -and still am- a horrible wedding photographer, but I assume they did not mind too much because we are still good friends. He just called me and told that he is comming to town..

List of his hobbies is well..lets try.. He is  a engineer to the heart (actualy he has the logo of engineer union tatood on his neck), a bmw-enthusiast,  a rock climber,a  kickboxer of sorts. (This they do together I cant imagine a better coulpe theraphy.) His an audiphile, a  computer modifier, he desings and makes some his own clothes…. I propably forgot whole lot of things that he is intrested.

One of the cool things  he is fanatic about is Legos! He said that now as working engineer he can pursue all his childhood dream legos that he could not get back then..

I had to shoot him like a kid playing with his legos. Staight forward, down and dirty one light setup on the floor of their flat. Not much of postprosessing. I mean.. who highpass sharpens every homealbun photo, like this ought to be?

Juha is the bartenders and one of the owners of the bar Soolo. I had to get this portrait after the initial shoot was over. The dude designd tobe  behind the bar…

Portrait of  Jussi whos blog swamp and the city I follow. Where Im lazy and write only in english, he blogs english and in finnish. He does have the advantage of being bilingual thou.  Jussi is a wildlife shooter from Kouvola city who rather spends his time at (or should I say in) the swamp than in the bars like I do.  Lovely fellow whos is dedicated to his photography as one with a family just can be. Hopefully I can promote his intresting project in the future.
