The Halla Bridge

Published by jussi under images

The infrastructure around the old cellulose factory at Halla is a remarkable place to shoot. I started out there years ago and thought that only the bridge was “open.” Now I know better but the bridge is still  a cool location with lots of variables with in the 15 meters. Thus it has beacme one of my ‘go to’-locations.

I’m quite sure that this is going to be the last exhange student set in 2009. Most of the folks you’ve seen on the blog in the last three months have been exhange students studying in KyAMK.  The fairwell Snow-party is held tonight and I’m at work. That figures. Hopefully with the pics I gave them something to remember.  I don’t know if wierd and crazy photogs jump around in their feet back home? Don’t know, it might be normal because they all were amazing infront of the lens! (The best part here is that they are not all leaving..)

Portfolio Profile Pics

Published by jussi under images

Bet you thought this was just another ‘hey-I-updated-my-portfolio’ posts. No its not..

Shot couple of pics of Emmi for her upcomming online portfolio to be used as a profile pics . Don’t know if she’ll use them but I like the result. I have to do couple of black and whites thou.

The location was old familiar Hallas bridge. Its one of the those places I return regulary to shoot. Im seriously thinkin of painting those white “window frames” to gray or red..or anything but white..

I’m so sorry..

Not too long ago I wrote:  “If you haven’t noticed this is a not exactly a prophotoblog” .. that post was about taking pictures when drunk. Happy to say Im still no pro, and Im free to speak my mind and be  honest about my photography. Thing is, no pro will ever show the crap they shot when they hit a slump!

Still every photog hits a slump everyu once a while. The brains melts down and  the f-stops do not correlate to flash output. Or shutter burns the ambient.  Result is a bad image or in my case a disaster. One of my favourite things to say is, ‘its always complitely the photographers fault if the images suck.’ My fault.

Hansu and Mari were fun and I think the shoot went well on their part.  The photos here are the ones I did not mess up complitely. There would have been so much better pics, but … well uderexposed, focus on the background, flash that did not fire…. you name it, I made it.  During the shoot I was distrackted and was not thinking. Like a former-gentleman I offered a reshoot if thing turn out be as I feared.
