Three days ago Janne asked why I haven’t posted anything new. I laughed because my blow was silent for couple of days at that point. Three or days, what would happen if I stopped for two weeks?
To be honest I’d love to have something new to post every week but its not possible. Mostly because I do not shoot enough but also because I try to control the blog a bit. The aim is that anyone new who visits the blog gets a clear view what I am about as a photographer.
Wonder why I did not show this picture from the Porvoo shootfest on the first round. Of course the lighting on this is something that I’ve done numerous time before. I’ve done it with all my lenses but the flare is simply the best with the cheap 50mm 1.8. When I started setting up for this Janne began to fuss around. It hit me in the head a bit that I do this too often but then again I don’t care. It looks good.,
I’ve spend plenty of time on the water with my bucket so I haven’t shot anything in a while but thigs start to heat up as the wedding gigs began to unfold. Some modeling shoots and shootfests are on the calendar also, but nothing solid yet.

The last shots from our Porvoo shootfest. Janne had a comment on his blog where someone was asking where she could get in to modeling in porvoo. Ouh my, did we do that much damage? Yes we did, because we were awsome, had time of our live and made plenty of pictures.
Now, if Janinas (the first 2 pics) facebook profile pic does not change after these images I feel like I’ve failed.
The last pic is difficult for me. Not the lighting (the source is not big enough, I know) but the crop. The picture is not 100% what I wanted it to be. I had this vision, this amazing idea but I had to vhurry and got 7 frames of Krista on the bench and its not quite there..
This happens when you are a photographer and can’t always get the images you want and just have to roll with it.

Some pics are still in the pipeline from our session in porvoo. I shot more pics today and I’ll get to them on the weekend if I have the time.

I’ll let you in a little secret. Usualy I don’t have a clue what we are shootig before Maiju is done with the first model and hands her over for me to shoot. I have some ideas and take a tour around the location to scout the backgrounds and angles but nothing solid.
Of course we discuss in advadce what we are after but I’m having hard time to visualize the outfits and the makeup in detail. I can always trust to Maiju to deliver plenty to work with so I’m never nervous. For example this time we talked about old Porvoo and vintage but thats that. It could have been anything from the 1920′s to the end of the 1970′s.
After shooting numerous times in location Im do not worrie about it. Im pretty confident that I can make most out of any location. The ever so vague storyline got more into it when we hit the location. Old railroad cars and tracks. I got a feedback from the images that they look like from mid 1940′s. Good because that was my aim.
Here is the tiny stroyline that went through my head. Its the mid of the 1940′s and shes waiting someone to return from the front. A walk to the train, almost the first glanse and the last from the steps of the house. He is different, she is suspicious.
I know- a clishe but who cares.

Maiju moved to Porvoo and called me: “there is this awful, ugly attic here that..” “YES! lets shoot there!” I said before she got the end of the sentence.
Thing is that attics are more versitile places to shoot than you think. There is most likely a concrete wall, a metall net on the cages and wood surfaces to play with. Most importantly they are dark. Dark is good because it hides everything and when you go black you can always light it as you wish. Dark is good.
Two shots of Elisa..
